ABOUT MACDONALD EQUIPMENT...

Macdonald Equipment Company was founded in 1954 by James (Jimmy) A. Macdonald and A.M. “Pete” Dahm. Macdonald Equipment quickly became a leading distributor of construction and snow removal equipment in Colorado and surrounding states. In 1969, the company built and occupied its present facility at U.S. Highway 85 and 74th Avenue in Commerce City.
Jimmy's failing health led him to retire in 1963, with M.C. “Clay” chambers acquiring his interest in the company. Subsequently, Chambers left the firm in 1974, selling his interest and leaving Dahm as the sole owner of the company.
Following Pete Dahm's death late in 1987, Ken Black, treasurer of Macdonald and a 15-year employee of the firm, purchased the business from the Dahm family and became president of the “new” Macdonald Equipment Company in May 1988. Mr. Black holds a B.S. degree in business administration from Colorado State University, where he majored in Accounting.
Soon after Ken Black bought Macdonald Equipment, Joe Owens, formerly with Booth-Rouse Equipment Co. joined Macdonald as vice president. At that time, Joe had over 25 years of equipment experience.
The company's facility is sited on 6.5 acres, encompasses 22,000 square feet, including 5,000 square feet of office and display area, 3,000 square feet of parts area (including an upper level when needed), 11,000 square feet of service area and the 3,000 square feet culvert pipe plant.
Today, Macdonald Equipment continues to be well established in the local government and contractor market, as well as offering a variety of equipment for rent and purchase. We look forward to many more years of continued service.
We appreciate our continued customer base and look forward to building more business relationships in the future!
Signed,
Ken Black
President
